I was given a request by my SIL, Mark, for a pair of gloves with the thumbs and index fingers removed to make texting easier.
Now, I don't get too many requests for knitted items...especially from the men folk in the family...so I knew that I must meet this challenge. We discussed how much of each digit he wanted exposed, one hand or two, general sizing matters, and other details and I headed back to Indianapolis on a mission. These are similar to the Cigar Gloves that Knitty featured awhile back and they fit him perfectly. Now I have requests for fishing gloves from The Husband and the other SIL with openings in the same digits similar to buttonholes that they can bring the finger and thumb through when they are dealing with lines and hooks and then return them to the warmth of the glove when they are through.
So, now I am in the glove making business for a while!

That's actually quite cool to be able to make something so unique and desired by your family members. I can't think of a glass equivalent, but will give it a try.
How funny. You could probably market those. My twenty three year old son is texting ALL the time. I will have to ask him what he would think of those gloves. lol
Arlene...Gee, I'll have to forward that thought to Mark and my daughter. They just may have an idea or two!
Grammy...They actually mass produce gloves with all the tips exposed, but I'm not sure about any with just the thumb and index finger. But it is fun to be able to fill specific requests.
How sweet of you to knit special gloves. I love them. What a great idea. I love the picture. I would not have gotten the visual without it.
How extremely Geekish!!
Wow you have so many wonderful talents, I like the way you do things lol
forgot to ask you, would you knit me the warmest wool socks in the world, no matter that the heat is on, it's so cold, my feet are always freezing, I'll pay you...and you can show them off on your blog! But not with my feet, there will a charge for that! kidding ;)
Lorraine...You are so cute! I just finished a very warm pair but I fear they would be too big for you! I seriously love knitting and gift my finished items all the time!
